Wuva works between people who both have the app and have agreed to hear from each other. Step 3 is the one most people miss.
1
Install and sign in
Get Wuva on both phones and sign in with an email code, Apple or Google. Allow notifications when Wuva asks, then check the phone settings below.
2
Connect with an invite code
One of you: Circle → Invite someone, then share the 4-digit code. The other: Circle → Redeem an invite. The code expires after 5 minutes.
3
Each of you allows the other Key step
On your own phone, open Circle → their name and turn on the levels you accept from them. They do the same on their phone for you. Until then, only Silent reminders get through.
4
Send a reminder
Tap +, choose the person, time, message and level. Check reachability shows exactly how it will arrive before you tap Schedule.
Step 3, explained: you decide what reaches you
Permissions are set by the person who receives the reminders, one person at a time. For example, you and Alex are connected:
On your phone
Circle → Alex
Silent on by default
Normal
Strong
Emergency
Alex can reach you with Silent, Normal and Strong.
⇄two separate directions
On Alex’s phone
Circle → You
Silent on by default
Normal
Strong
Emergency
You can reach Alex with Silent and Normal.
If you pick a level the other person has not turned on, Wuva tells you before you send and delivers it at the highest level they allow, never louder. A notice such as “Normal isn’t available for this delivery right now — sending as Silent instead” simply means they have not turned on Normal for you yet.
Invite onlyNo public profiles, search or contact matching. Strangers cannot find you or reach you.
Consent, not attentionA reminder can sound through silent mode or wake you up, so that power has to be given by you, not taken.
Each direction is separateWhat you allow someone does not change what they allow you.
Change your mind at any timeTurn levels off, or remove, block or report someone in Circle. Your location is shared only if you allow it and then choose to share.
Important
Phone settings Wuva needs to actually ring
Your phone decides whether an app may show alerts, play sounds, ring alarms and run in the background. If one of these is off, a reminder can arrive silently or not at all, whatever level was chosen. Check them once on every phone that receives reminders.
iPhone
Notifications on.Settings → Wuva → Notifications: turn on Allow Notifications, with Lock Screen, Banners and Sounds.
Time Sensitive on. On the same screen, turn on Time Sensitive Notifications so important reminders can come through a Focus.
Allow alarms (iOS 26 or later). When Wuva asks to set alarms, tap Allow; Emergency reminders need it. If you declined, turn it back on in Settings → Wuva.
Background App Refresh on.Settings → Wuva → Background App Refresh, so new reminders are set on your phone ahead of time.
Focus. If you use a Focus such as Sleep or Work, allow Wuva or Time Sensitive notifications in it: Settings → Focus → the Focus → Apps.
Avoid swiping Wuva away. After you force-close an app, iPhone stops waking it in the background until you open it again. Reminders already set on the phone still ring.
Android
Use the checklist in the app.Account → Emergency alarms lists each permission with a Turn on button: Alarms & reminders (required), Notifications (required), Full-screen alerts (recommended) and Do Not Disturb access (optional).
Notification categories on.Settings → Apps → Wuva → Notifications: keep every category from Reminders (L1) to Reminders (L3b) on, with sound and pop-up or banner allowed.
Battery: unrestricted.Settings → Apps → Wuva → Battery: choose Unrestricted, or turn off battery optimization for Wuva.
vivo, OPPO, Xiaomi and similar phones: allow Auto-start and background activity for Wuva, and lock it in recent apps. On these phones, swiping an app away counts as a force stop.
Never use “Force stop” on Wuva in App info. It cancels the reminders set on the phone until you open Wuva again.
Quick test: tap +, choose Me, set a Normal reminder 2 minutes from now, then lock the phone. If it shows up with a sound, you are set. To check the louder levels, try a Strong reminder with the phone on silent (a Premium level; every new account gets its first 30 days free).
1. Getting started, in detail
Wuva works between two people who both have the app. Set it up once, connect, and then each of you decides what the other may send.
Install Wuva. iPhone: from the App Store. Android: install the APK, see section 5.
Sign in. Use a one-time code sent to your email, or Sign in with Apple / Google. There is no password to remember.
Allow notifications when Wuva asks. On Android, also open Account → Emergency alarms and turn on the permissions listed there so Emergency reminders can ring like an alarm.
Try a reminder to yourself. Tap +, choose Me, pick a time, a message and a priority, then tap Schedule. When the reminder shows ✓ Set on this phone, it will ring on time even without internet.
Connect with someone. One of you opens Circle → Invite someone → Create private invite and shares the 4-digit code by voice or message. The other opens Circle → Redeem an invite, enters the code and taps Accept invite. The code works once and expires after 5 minutes.
Decide what each person may send you. This is the step people miss. Open Circle, tap the person’s name and turn on the levels you are happy to receive from them: Normal, Strong, Emergency, and if you want, Emergency location. Both of you do this, each on your own phone, because each person only controls what reaches them.
Send a reminder. Tap +, choose the person, set the time, message and priority, tap Check reachability to see exactly how it will arrive, then Schedule. They can answer with one tap: Thanks, Later or No thanks.
2. Permissions & privacy: why both of you choose
The rule in one line: nobody can reach you unless you invited them, and nobody can reach you louder than you allowed.
Who can send me reminders?
Only people you have connected with using a 4-digit invite code. There is no public profile, search or contact-list matching: a stranger cannot find you or message you.
Why can someone only send me Silent reminders at first?
When two people connect, each of them can send the other Silent reminders only. Anything louder is opt-in by the person receiving it: you turn on Normal, Strong or Emergency for each person separately, in Circle → their name. A reminder app can wake you up or sound through silent mode, so that power has to be given, not taken.
The two directions are separate. Allowing your mother to send you Strong reminders does not let you send her Strong reminders; she decides that on her own phone.
What does each permission allow?
Permission
What the other person can do
Silent
Send a quiet notification with no sound. On by default after you connect.
Normal
Send a notification with sound. It can pass Focus; silent mode may still mute it.
Strong
Send an alert that can sound your phone, even on silent.
Emergency
Set an alarm-style reminder on your phone for urgent situations. It rings even on silent or in Focus.
Emergency location
Ask, once, where you are when they mark an emergency. You always choose whether to share; Wuva never tracks your location in the background.
If someone picks a level you have not allowed, Wuva does not send it louder than you agreed. It tells them and sends the reminder at the highest level you did allow.
Can I change my mind?
Yes, at any time. Switch levels off in Circle → their name. From the ··· menu on that screen you can also Remove from Circle, Block (they can no longer send you reminders, request your location or reconnect) or Report them. We review every report within 24 hours.
Who can see my reminders and my data?
A reminder is shown only to the person who sent it and the person who receives it. If you report someone, we look at what they sent you so we can act on the report. You can delete your account and its data yourself in Account → Delete account. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
3. Reminder levels & delivery
Which level should I use?
Silent for gentle, no-pressure notes.
Normal for everyday reminders: calls, errands, appointments.
Strong for things that must not be missed, such as medication.
Emergency for urgent wake-ups and safety check-ins. It must be scheduled at least 30 minutes ahead so it can be set as a real alarm on the other phone.
Does Emergency work on every phone?
On iPhone it uses the system alarm (AlarmKit) and needs iOS 26 or later. On Android it needs the Alarms & reminders permission (in Account → Emergency alarms). When the receiving phone cannot set the alarm, Wuva sends the reminder at the next level that person allows, usually Strong, and tells the sender.
Does it work without internet?
Yes, once the reminder is set on the receiving phone; look for the ✓ Set on this phone tag. A reminder sent while that phone is completely offline is set as soon as it reconnects.
Can reminders repeat?
Yes: daily, weekly, monthly or yearly. Repeating reminders are part of Wuva Premium.
4. Troubleshooting
“Normal isn’t available for this delivery right now — sending as Silent instead”
The person you are sending to has not turned on Normal for you yet, so Wuva sends at the level they did allow. Ask them to open Circle, tap your name and turn on Normal. The same applies to Strong and Emergency. Then tap Check reachability again.
My Emergency reminder was sent as Strong
It was scheduled less than 30 minutes ahead. Pick a later time.
The receiving phone cannot set alarms: an iPhone on iOS older than 26, or an Android phone without Alarms & reminders turned on.
They have not turned on Emergency for you in their Circle.
A reminder did not ring
First go through the phone settings on the receiving phone. Then check:
Notifications must be allowed for Wuva in the phone’s settings.
Silent mode / Focus: Silent and Normal reminders follow your sound settings; only Strong and Emergency are designed to sound on silent. A custom Focus that blocks Wuva will also block it.
Not set on the phone yet: open Wuva once while connected so new reminders are set on the phone (✓ tag).
Android battery and background limits: some phones, such as vivo, OPPO and Xiaomi, stop apps that are swiped away from recent apps. Lock Wuva in recent apps, allow it to run in the background and to auto-start, and do not restrict its battery use.
The invite code does not work
Codes work once and expire 5 minutes after they are created. Ask the other person to create a new one and enter it straight away.
I did not get the sign-in code
Check your spam or junk folder and wait a minute. For security, you can request at most 5 codes per email address in 15 minutes.
I cannot find someone when sending a reminder
You can only send to people in your Circle. Connect with an invite code first (see Getting started, step 5).
5. Android: installing and updating the APK
Android is in testing. The Google Play version is coming soon. Until then, you can install Wuva directly with the APK file we publish on headits.com.
Where does the APK come from?
We build and sign every Wuva APK ourselves, through Expo’s official build service, and every release is signed with the same key. The only official download is the button on the Wuva page, which points to our own file storage:
https://cf.headits.com/Wuva-1.0.1.apk
We never send the APK as an email attachment or through chat apps. If you are offered a “Wuva” APK anywhere else, do not install it.
How do I install it?
Check your phone runs Android 10 or later.
Download the APK on your phone from the Wuva page (about 132 MB; Wi-Fi recommended).
Open the downloaded file. Android will ask you to allow installing apps from your browser or file manager. Allow it for this install.
Tap Install, then open Wuva and sign in.
Turn on the alarm permissions in Account → Emergency alarms, and on vivo, OPPO or Xiaomi phones adjust the background settings described in Troubleshooting.
Optional: turn “Install unknown apps” back off for your browser or file manager.
How do I get updates?
Small fixes arrive automatically. Wuva downloads them in the background; they take effect after you close and reopen the app (usually by the second reopen). Nothing to install.
New versions are published as a new APK on the Wuva page. Download it and install it over the existing app. Do not uninstall first; your account, Circle and reminders are kept.
When the Google Play version launches, we will explain on the Wuva page how to move over.
Install safety tips
Only download from headits.com. Google Play Protect may warn that the app is from an unknown developer, because it is not on Google Play yet; that is expected for our file.
If Android says the app “conflicts with an existing package” when you install an update, stop: the file was not signed by us. Delete it and download again from headits.com.
For advanced users, you can check the file you downloaded:
Every new account, on any phone, gets its first 30 days of Wuva Premium free. In-app subscriptions on Android will be available with the Google Play version.
6. Wuva Premium & your account
What is free, and what is Premium?
One-time Silent and Normal reminders, and everything on the receiving side, are always free. Strong, Emergency and repeating reminders are part of Wuva Premium. A repeating reminder made while you were subscribed keeps firing after the subscription ends, so a medication reminder never silently stops.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
On iPhone, subscriptions are billed and managed by Apple: Account → Manage or cancel subscription in Wuva, or Settings → your name → Subscriptions. We cannot see your payment details or issue refunds; refunds go through reportaproblem.apple.com.
How do I delete my account?
In Account → Delete account. It takes effect immediately. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription; cancel that separately.
